Have You Seen the Health Benefits of Celery Juice?
January 10, 2019
*Before I begin, I will state that I am not a healthcare professional. I am merely sharing my own experiences. If you decide to make changes with your body, please consult your healthcare professional.*
If you have read anything about my journey from my About Me page, you’ll see that I have faced health challenges for quite a while. They haven’t been debilitating enough to hospitalize me, or warrant disability, or even seem like much is wrong (to somebody other than myself)… but I just haven’t felt like me for a long time. Like, maybe 20+ years or so.
A lot of it could be attributed to just getting older, or not exercising, or not eating right, or not getting the correct nutrition or just plain being sick. But my body knows something just wasn’t right.
What Were My Health Issues?
Strep throat/sinus infections at least once/year from the time I was very young
A lot of weight gain during pregnancy, and it didn’t come back off after the baby was born
I had a hard time focusing at work and needed to take more and more time off
Tired, tired, tired!!!
Thyroid issues (Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis)
Getting dizzy when the temperature was too warm
Cold hands and feet
Low back pain, unable to get out of bed
General body aches and pains, super exhausted, unable to function
Brain fog – unable to complete sentences
Inflammation everywhere, including hands, ankles, and feet
Bloating like crazy
So I changed things. I started eating differently, taking nutritional supplements, caring more about myself by focusing on and taking “Me Time”.
I used the high fat/low carb diet (now just called Keto): lost a ton of weight
Gained it all back when life got stressful
Still ended up with all the issues listed above, plus was even more exhausted
Juice cleanses: Um, well let’s just say that, to this day, beets and I still are not friends
Started a plant-based diet: lost 20 lbs, and have maintained that (yay, just what the doctors ordered)
Still have more weight to lose, but don’t have the energy to exercise
Positives – no more strep/sinus infections, back pain went away, inflammation is down, especially with hands, ankles, and feet
Contains mineral salts that the body needs for breaking down pathogens’ cell membranes, as well as keep the kidneys and adrenals functioning properly
Breaks down and flushes out viruses
Helps aid the gut with digestion
Helps balance emotions
And much, much more
Let me tell you, celery juice seems to help a lot of issues, such as pretty much everything I was suffering with, and then even more debilitating diseases that have to do with autoimmune diseases, the liver, brain, skin, and all sorts of other issues.
But really, it’s CELERY juice. One of my most detested foods on the planet. My first thought was that I would never be able to gag that down – so it just wasn’t for me. I kept on with my plant-based diet for about a year, and during that year, kept seeing information about celery juice. And kept ignoring it.
Finally, when I was so sick and tired of being sick and tired, and had tried more diets than I actually care to mention, I broke down and tried the celery juice.
How Was The Experience?
At first, it was gross.
I haven’t liked celery for as long as I can remember. Not even covered with peanut butter and raisins (yep, that was part of our school lunches as kids).
But I started with just a small shot of it (1 rib). And by some magical miracle, I was still alive.
And I worked my way up from there to 16oz (or more) every morning. I am now proud to say, I enjoy it. In fact, I even CRAVE it.
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly
My body loves me. Mostly. Or, at least, on most days. I have consistently been drinking celery juice for the last 45 days and made no other changes to my prior diet.
The Good: My body has reduced or eliminated:
Inflammation of my hands, ankles, and feet
Tiredness: I now have more energy to get through most days
Most body aches and pains, including my lower back, which was frequently an issue
Sinus infections: I went through the holidays without getting majorly sick (used to happen sometime within the last month of the year)
Lack of focus, allowing me to get more work done and be more creative
The Bad: Well, it might be perceived as bad… but I’ll take it as my body is healing from nasty stuff, and it has only lasted for a few days so far. All of these are supposedly from old toxins and viruses that my body has been holding on to and are trying to resurface or resurge before being eliminated.
Some old emotions have come up (kinda weird and unexpected)
I have had a few days when I got really tired and achy – similar to the flu, but not nearly as debilitating
My sleep patterns have changed (I’ve needed more sleep) and I have had really weird dreams about past experiences that I haven’t thought about in years
The Ugly: Not many, really. I mean, once you get past the idea of drinking straight celery juice. (But the dude below, he’s cute and ugly at the same time.)
The taste – actually, it’s not so bad anymore
I CRAVE celery juice, especially after drinking too much alcohol the night before. Not a hangover cure, and definitely not condoning alcohol abuse, but just sayin’, the body is pretty good at knowing what it needs most of the time. 😉
So Where Do I Go From Here?
Since learning about and experiencing the health benefits of celery juice, I have started reading the books that Anthony William has published.
And if you would like to learn more about what he shares, you can order his books here. I have read all of them, and they all give different information – but, at the same time, they each still talk about the healing powers of celery juice! My health and learning to love myself has become a large part of “Me Time”. It is time for a change, time to get my body back to being me. I would love to hear what health benefits you have experienced as well in the comments below.
In the meantime, may your healing begin with big hugs and lots of love to you,
